  • Saltworks co-founder Ben Sparrow published a paper on the thermodynamics of saltwater in a peer reviewed journal of Desalination.
  • Ben Sparrow devises the theory of the Saltworks technology and builds an initial prototype. Joshua Zoshi and Ben Sparrow found Saltworks Technologies Incorporated.
2008
  • Saltworks' desalination prototype is proof-tested by BC Hydro's Powertech Labs.
  • Saltworks wins awards in both the First and Sustainability Prizes at the New Ventures BC Competition.
2009
  • Saltworks completes its fully functional 135 m2 solar capture station in the Okanagan used for testing Saltworks' novel heat capture process.
  • Saltworks permits and establishes Canada's first seawater based test facility and installs it's scaled-up pilot plant for long duration seawater trials.
  • The BC Innovative Clean Energy Fund joins Saltworks pre-commercial plant project and execute a contribution agreement.
  • Sustainable Development Technology Canada announces approval of a $1.2-million contribution to Saltworks' development projects.
  • Saltworks first commercial ready desalting device is completed, built for reliable long-term operation with self-cleaning capability.
  • Saltworks presents it breakthrough technology at the World Desalination Congress in Dubai (November 12, 2009)
