Acid & Base Recycling

Recover, purify, and recycle waste acid. Lower chemical costs.

FlexEDR outfitted with proton selective IonFlux Ion Exchange Membranes recovers and purifies waste acid for re-use. Reducing chemical costs and waste.

We invented a way to turbo-charge diffusion dialysis. Our proton selective membranes enable an electrical driving force to increase acid concentration.

Benefits

  • Recover any acid: HF, HNO3, HCl, H2SO4, organic acids, and more
  • Recycle acid and reduce chemical costs
  • Reduce waste acid strength, improve safety
  • Proton blocking anion exchange membrane prevents acid leakage
  • Compared to diffusion dialysis: smaller plants, produce highly concentrated pure acid
  • Skid mounted, simple system
  • Fully automated system options
  • Mobile pilot plants available

FlexEDR

  • pH tolerance of 0-12
  • Pure acid is transferred to freshwater via Saltworks’ proton selective IonFlux Ion Exchange Membrane
  • No proton leaking across anion exchange membranes
  • Meet discharge requirements and reuse spent acid
  • Modular, leak-free stack

Project Summaries

FlexEDR successfully treated ion exchange resin regeneration acid waste to produce highly concentrated pure acid. The recovered pure acid is kept in a separate stream to be reused, reducing expenditure on new acid.

RO Brine Treatment: Why Maximizing Reverse Osmosis Recovery Matters

Treating RO brine optimally begins with utilizing lower-cost membrane systems to minimize volume for downstream processing. Clients must then decide between the available thermal treatment options that allow for brine concentration or treating down to solids for disposal.
