Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Produced Water Desalination

October 7, 2019

Saltworks completed two successful live oil field pilots that desalinated enhanced oil recovery (EOR) produced water. The objectives were to lower the clients’ polymer consumption costs and improve the quality of injection water in order to improve hydrocarbon recovery and lower operating cost. These objectives were met, with over 97% up-time. A video walk through of the pilot can be viewed here.

Shale Produced Water Treatment via AirBreather

Aug 27, 2019

Saltworks is introducing a novel 3rd class of evaporator to the shale market. AirBreather has no direct contact between produced water and atmosphere, preventing harmful air emissions, and produces no liquid distilled water by-product that must be managed under a lengthy permitting process.

FGD Pilot Success in the USA

June 4, 2019

Saltworks successfully concluded a 60-day on site pilot at a major US coal fired power plant with 100% up-time. The project treated challenging flue gas desulfurization (FGD) wastewater to selectively remove chlorides for recycle and re-use internal to the coal stack scrubber system. By targeting the key concern—chlorides—this novel selective removal method provides an alternative to expensive complex treatments for discharge as explained in this brief video.

Tour of a Zero Liquid Discharge Mine Water Treatment Plant

Jun 14, 2018

Our latest SaltMaker MultiEffect Evaporator Crystallizer is currently being shipped to a mine in the Canadian arctic where mine water shaft will be treated to achieve zero liquid discharge (ZLD). The produced salts will be reused to desalt the mine. Megan Low and Ben Sparrow give a walking tour of the SaltMaker, guiding you through various parts of the plant.
