SilicaSelect: Silica Extractor

SilicaSelect removes silica, and as a positive side effect it de-saturates gypsum (calcium sulfate). It is a smaller, simpler version of our BrineRefine chemical softening product.

 

SilicaSelect is a standard size, skidded product, capable of treating 120 m3/day (22 GPM). Sound small? It’s meant to be. SilicaSelect is intended to treat side streams and enable incremental recovery improvements.

What SilicaSelect Can Do

If you have 600 m3/day of silica-saturated RO brine, one SilicaSelect skid helps you to boost recovery and lower brine volumes by 20%.  That’s good enough in many cases to bring, say, an evaporation pond back into hydraulic balance. Don’t over-treat and over-pay when you can treat a side stream with SilicaSelect with minimized costs. 

 

SilicaSelect removes silica through a high pH precipitation process, with solids filtered to 0.1 µm, making SilicaSelect RO water friendly. If gypsum is also super saturated (>2,550 mg/L), held in dissolved form with anti-scalants, SilicaSelect will relieve the anti-scalants and remove gypsum, further enabling recovery gains. All solids emerge as a solid filter cake for ease of disposal.
