Saltworks Triples Production Capacity to Meet Surging Demand Driven by AI and the Energy Transition

March 31, 2026

Saltworks Technologies has expanded its advanced manufacturing operations by 70,000 square feet in Richmond, British Columbia. This is in response to strong, sustained demand for its industry-leading, off-site manufactured industrial water treatment and lithium refining systems. Significant growth in semiconductor manufacturing, data center power infrastructure, and critical mineral extraction is accelerating demand for Saltworks’ advanced water recycling and metals extraction technologies.

After completing production upgrades to its headquarters in 2022, Saltworks’ current manufacturing facility has reached full production capacity as the company executes a growing portfolio of large‑scale projects scheduled for delivery in 2026 and beyond. Demand has accelerated for Saltworks’ novel intelligent systems that deliver both process improvements and reduced on-site construction costs. Saltworks’ differentiation is amplifying demand driven by the need for reliable, sustained performance, future-proof ‘thinking machines,’ lowest total installed cost, shorter project timelines, and reduced site risk.

The newly acquired facility will operate alongside Saltworks’ existing headquarters, leveraging the company’s existing leadership, management structure, and project delivery team. The proximity of the two locations enables Saltworks to preserve its “all under one roof” approach, where engineering, supply chain, quality assurance, fabrication, assembly, testing, and commissioning remain tightly integrated. This structure supports consistent quality, efficient execution, and repeatability as systems scale in size and complexity. Maintaining parallel manufacturing ensures no compromise on technical rigor, safety standards, or workforce collaboration. Future satellite service centers and production sites in the USA are also under development, located near our major clients.

David Ludu, Saltworks’ VP of Production, commented, “Saltworks was built to scale. The expansion facility will produce and factory commission our mature, repeatable, and standardized systems. Our HQ will retain pilot testing and first-of-a-kind buildouts, with supply chain, quality control, and engineering shared across the plants.”

“Growing in British Columbia provides Saltworks access to a deep and talented pool of skilled tradespeople, engineers, and project managers. While demand for skilled trades and engineers continues to surge across the industry, Saltworks implemented a scalable HR and training plan years ago, building a strong leadership team that rapidly onboards and mentors new staff. We recruit highly capable people from parallel heavy industries who are seeking to build their career with one of Canada’s leading clean technology companies, recognized through Fast 50 and Entrepreneur of the Year awards,” said Dinah Coles, Saltworks’ Director of HR.

This additional capacity strengthens Saltworks’ ability to continue delivering large, complex industrial systems at commercial scale while maintaining the quality, repeatability, and performance standards expected globally.

Clients planning large‑scale water or lithium projects are encouraged to contact Saltworks’ expert engineers early to discuss how our systems can support their project delivery.
