Saltworks Secures Another Semiconductor Mega-Fab Win

Becoming the Standard for Modernized Semiconductor Water Reclamation and ZLD Solutions

Sep 10, 2026

Saltworks Technologies has been awarded another major semiconductor water reclamation and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) project, reinforcing its leadership as the ‘go-to’ modernized standard.

Driven by water scarcity, high water demand, and AI-fueled production growth, many semiconductor fabs must now desalinate and reuse their wastewater. On-site desalination reduces external water consumption and supports a circular water economy within semiconductor manufacturing facilities. Fabs are increasingly moving toward zero liquid discharge (ZLD), where over 99% of the water is recycled, significantly reducing demand on community water supplies and receiving water bodies.

Over the years, Saltworks developed the most advanced water reclamation and ZLD technologies, protected by a robust patent portfolio, and digitized with intelligent automation that increases productivity and water recovery. These solutions are delivered as factory-built, tested, and commissioned modules that reduce project risk, lower costs, and accelerate deployment.

Saltworks’ modernized water reclamation platform is built on three integrated technology families:

  • Selective Ion Removal – Saltworks’ patented Xtract platform replaces conventional lead-lag ion exchange systems, reducing chemical consumption and waste generation. Saltworks’ BrineRefine selectively removes fluoride from hydrofluoric acid waste (HFW) while consuming less calcium and generating less waste. Lower chemical use reduces salinity impacts, enhances downstream RO water recovery, and reduces waste production, in addition to the immediate chemical cost OpEx benefits.
  • Ultra-High Recovery RO – Saltworks’ XtremeRO platform delivers industry-leading reverse osmosis water recovery, with built-in membrane health protection and optimization. By maximizing RO recovery, XtremeRO reduces the size, cost, and energy requirements of downstream brine concentration processes.
  • ZLD via Combined Brine Concentration and Crystallization – Saltworks’ SaltMaker ZLD system combines mechanical vapor recompression (MVR)-based concentration and crystallization in a single unit. Its patented self-cleaning heat exchanger technology continuously removes scale, increasing uptime and capacity.

Saltworks has methodically scaled its repeatable, off-site manufactured solution across four major semiconductor fabs, reducing site installation costs, shortening project schedules, and lowering project risk. The company’s industry-leading advanced automation systems include self-diagnosing controls that help operators identify issues early, predict maintenance requirements, optimize performance, and maximize uptime.

This latest project further expands the deployment of Saltworks’ advanced water recovery and ZLD solutions, helping manufacturers meet growing water demands through advanced process technology, intelligent automation, and scalable delivery.
