Saltworks' Canadian Workforce Doubles & Production Ramps as Industrial Water Recycling Demand Grows

Oct 29, 2026

Saltworks Technologies’ new Canadian advanced manufacturing facility is now in full production, with multiple industrial water treatment plants being assembled across its two Richmond, British Columbia facilities.

In just one year, Saltworks has more than doubled its workforce and opened a second production facility, tripling its production capacity to fill market demand. The company continues a significant hiring drive across engineering, manufacturing, digital, field services, business development, and other functions.

Saltworks’ advanced technology is at the intersection of global macro trends, including industrial expansion, water scarcity, AI adoption, and critical minerals development. Saltworks spent over a decade developing some of the most advanced technologies to treat challenging industrial brines through high-recovery desalination, selective contaminant removal (SCR), and zero liquid discharge (ZLD) processes. Semiconductor fabs, data centers, mine sites, and power generation all require increasingly sophisticated water recycling technologies given the limited freshwater supply and nation-states’ desire to protect their aquatic ecosystems.

Customers also face the combined forces of labour constraints and the need for high uptime due to the criticality of water infrastructure, which is driving the adoption of intelligently designed system with advanced process control that maximizes uptime, capacity, recovery and completes self-maintaining functions. Saltworks HydraOS plant operating system transforms conventional process control into a continuously learning and optimizing “thinking machine,” integrating intelligent automation, real-time sensing, plant-wide data, predictive optimization, and AI-enabled decision support. These capabilities enable increasingly autonomous and higher-performing plants.

To propel HydraOS forward, alongside Saltworks production and talent pool expansion, the company has invested in an on-site data center to enable the company’s virtual commissioning, remote operating center, and to sustain the very high AI adoption rates among its engineers.

The company continues to expand and hire talented, committed, forward-thinking engineers, technicians, and business professionals. Many jobs are being created for those interested in pioneering the future of sustainable water and lithium refining, while leveraging the power of AI and ensuring its safe and secure application.

The company is proving that Canada can innovate, build, and lead in the export of advanced industrial technology. Saltworks’ rapid growth has been achieved organically and profitably, supported by repeat project wins. The company’s earnings are being reinvested in talent and technology, alongside Saltworks’ flagship lithium Project Aurora, which is set to bring made-in-Canada critical minerals to the market.
